The Story Behind Astara

Our Origin: A Journey from Awareness to Action

I was first introduced to gender studies during an elective class in university.

That was the first time I began to truly understand how many women throughout history had sacrificed so much for the freedoms many of us experience today — the freedom to study, to work, to build businesses, and to participate in society.

But even today, the reality is that many women around the world still face inequality, violence, and limited opportunities. During my graduate studies, I explored women’s issues from the perspective of language and media. As part of my research, I spent a lot of time searching through social media and news platforms, and the algorithms began showing me more and more stories about women experiencing harm and injustice.

There were days when reading those stories felt overwhelming.

People would sometimes tell me,

“Don’t look at it so much. You can’t change it anyway.”

And for a while, I asked myself the same question:

What can one person really do?

I realized that maybe change doesn’t always start with something huge.

Sometimes it begins with creating a space — a place where women feel safe, supported, and valued.

During graduate school, I studied alongside a group of incredibly talented women. Those two years remain some of the most supportive and empowering years of my life. It was a space where we could grow, create, and challenge ideas without needing to defend our place in the room.

That experience stayed with me.

I began to imagine building a company that reflects that same spirit — a place created by women, supporting women, and celebrating the power, intuition, and resilience that women carry.

With the support of one of my closest friends — who believed in this idea even when it wasn’t easy — we started this small brand together.

That brand became Astara.

Through Astara, we hope to share small pieces of positivity, intention, and good energy with every woman who discovers our work. Each piece we create is designed not just as jewelry, but as a reminder of inner strength, intuition, and possibility.

As our brand grows, we also hope to give back.

With every order,
$1 goes toward supporting global efforts that work toward safety, equality, and opportunity for women around the world.

Astara is still small.

But every meaningful change begins somewhere.

And for us, it begins here —

with intention, with community, and with women supporting women.

More than jewelry, it is energy.

Astara — Born from the Rhythm of the Sun and Moon

The name Astara is inspired by the energy of the cosmos — the eternal dance between the sun, the moon, and the stars.

Across ancient traditions, the cycles of the sun and moon have always been deeply connected to feminine energy. The moon reflects intuition, emotion, and inner wisdom, while the sun represents vitality, courage, and life force. Together, they mirror the balance within every woman — softness and strength, reflection and radiance.

Astara was created from this idea:

that every woman carries her own universe within her.

Just like the phases of the moon and the rising of the sun, a woman moves through cycles of growth, healing, transformation, and empowerment. Crystals, formed over millions of years within the Earth, hold the memory of these natural rhythms and help us reconnect with our own energy.

At Astara, each piece is designed as more than jewelry — it is a small reminder of the cosmic energy that already lives within you.

Astara is a reminder:
you are not separate from the cosmos — you are part of it.

Astara Logo Design

The Astara for You logo is inspired by the Witch’s Knot, an ancient symbol believed to represent protection, connection, and the flow of energy. In our design, the knot is formed using the sun, moon, and stars — the same celestial forces that inspired the name Astara, rooted in the idea of cosmic energy and feminine intuition.

Together, these elements create a symbol of harmony between earthly intention and universal energy, reflecting the cycles of light, intuition, and transformation that live within every woman. The logo represents protection, alignment, and a reminder that the energy of the universe is always connected to you.
